Sustainable and circular textile solutions start with science. At RETHREAD, we are exploring innovative scientific and technological solutions to address challenges of the fashion industry. RETHREAD founder, sustainability consultant Dr. Iva Jestratijevic helps designers, fashion brands, retailers, municipalities and other textile actors examine market, textile waste management programs and policies to tackle circularity more successfully.

RETHREAD offers educational talks that are available throughout the year. One hour long, they can be hosted online or in person at your school, university, organization or office space. These talks introduce the issue of textile waste and why it is a problem worth tackling, including information about how clothes are currently manufactured, sold, used, and disposed of and its effect on the environment, and how we can be part of the solution as companies and individuals.

RETHREAD provides practical, and accessible solutions to citizens in Dallas and Fort Worth communities to extend the life of their unwanted clothes. Through our year-round “Host a Bin” Program, RETHREAD partners with municipalities, local schools, universities, businesses, markets, and fashion brands to place collection boxes in designated locations where consumers can give back clothes, shoes, and accessories for re-use and recycling by RETHREAD. Second-hand shopping is smart! It saves money, helps the environment by reducing waste and resource consumption, and allows you to find unique items and express your personal style, all while supporting a sustainable economy. When you choose secondhand, you give clothes that may have ended up in landfills a new life. The clothing, shoes and accessories sold at the RETHREAD shop have been carefully selected from the items collected through our collection program. As a social enterprise we are committed to reselling up to 15% of items we collect. Financial proceeds go towards our operating costs and educational projects. All other collected items are donated to local charity partners (e.g., shelters, clothing pantries).
